Steve Jobs Dies: Apple Chief Created Personal Computer, iPad, iPod, iPhone

Steve Jobs, the mastermind behind Apple's iPhone, iPad, iPod, iMac and iTunes, has died, Apple said. Jobs was 56.
Apple did not reveal where Jobs died or from what cause -- though he has endured a battle with pancreatic cancer in recent years.
"We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today," read a statement by Apple's board of directors. "Steve's brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts."
The homepage of Apple's website this evening switched to a full-page image of Jobs with the text, "Steve Jobs 1955-2011."
Clicking on the image revealed the additional text: "Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor. Steve leaves behind a company that only he could have built, and his spirit will forever be the foundation of Apple."
Jobs co-founded Apple Computer in 1976 and, with his childhood friend Steve Wozniak, marketed what was considered the world's first personal computer, the Apple II.
Shortly after learning of Jobs' death, Wozniak told ABC News, "I'm shocked and disturbed."
Industry watchers called him a master innovator -- perhaps on a par with Thomas Edison -- changing the worlds of computing, recorded music and communications.
In 2004, he beat back an unusual form of pancreatic cancer, and in 2009 he was forced to get a liver transplant. After several years of failing health, Jobs announced on Aug. 24, 2011 that he was stepping down as Apple's chief executive.
"I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple's CEO, I would be the first to let you know," Jobs wrote in his letter of resignation. "Unfortunately, that day has come."

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Movie Trailer | Review | Tickets

Trailer Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 the Final Battle, which was built on the momentum of the previous teaser, come off as a greatest-hits collection of the franchise.

That, is only to say that all the greatest hits will be destroyed by battle delayed between Harry and He Who Must Not Be Known, which shakes the boy wizard to the core, gone is the charm and magic of the first film, replaced by an apocalyptic war zone that hit the world of magic, Watching over

Also seen on the road fast vibrations are Harry's parents, the baby Harry, Dumbledore, Sirius Black, Quidditch, Dementors, Death Eaters, Hogwarts fiendfyred, goblins dragons, fight, flight and abundance of confrontation, there is a ton of hand holding, almost hand held and also desperate kiss between Harry and his best friend's sister, Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright).

End of the adventures of the young wizard at Hogwarts, everything will be decided here, The fate of Hogwarts, Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and all mankind will be determined here, the battle between good and evil is never ending, but this point will be the deciding the future of mankind. Harry Potter must not give up because only he was the only hope.

Vodemort (Ralph Fiennes) was sure he had won. Only a matter of time before Voldemort can kill Harry Potter's life. Voldemort had managed to get the Elder Wand, and that means nobody else can stop him. Unfortunately, Harry Potter has turned out to still other ways. Harry was just doing what is not expected to Voldemort. Harry was sure he could destroy Voldemort if he can get all of Voldemort's Horcruxes.

Apparently this is precisely Horcruxes at Hogwarts, where Harry, Hermione (Emma Watson) and Ron (Rupert Grint) have been located. At last the long journey it should still end up in the three of them start out. Wars are inevitable. Voldemort's plan to destroy all that is at Hogwarts, including Harry Potter. Did Harry defeat this evil witch? Or he had to be victimizing so that everything is safe?

Independence Day Celebration

ATLANTA -- Independence Day is a time to celebrate America with cookouts, time with family and friends and of course, fireworks.
Even if you're planning to celebrate the 4th of July with family and friends, there are plenty of opportunities to celebrate in a bigger way.
The AJC Peachtree Road Race has been an Independence Day tradition for decades in Atlanta. Runners will get started in Buckhead, race south on Peachtree Street, up Heart Attack Hill, into Midtown and finish in Piedmont Park. If you're not running, cheer the runners on along the route.
After the race, make your way Downtown to Centennial Olympic Park. A number of events are planned around the park and at nearby attractions. Just make sure to stake out a spot for your blanket on the lawn for the Fireworks Spactacular.

In Douglasville, celebrate the 4th of July with a Day chock full of events including a parade and a fireworks display.
For the younger, hipper set (and those of us still think we are) Metromix has a nice rundown of the "cool" Independence Day events.

Azkals play at Rizal Memorial Stadium
Despite the rain which started pouring at the Rizal Stadium at the start of the first half until midway through the second, everyone was in high spirits.

Organizers said around fifteen thousand people watched the game. We heard some vuvuzelas at the bleachers. The Kaholeros were in full force.

The two teams had very good defense. Sri Lanka's goalkeeper went down and suffered a slightly injury/cut.

After many attempts, the Azkals were able to make a goal down 19 minutes in the 1st half. Chieffy Caligdong scored for the Philippines 1-0. Aggregate score was 2-1 in favor of the Azkals.

Stephen Schrock got 2 yellow cards. He will not be allowed to play in the next game of the Azkals against Kuwait.

Phil Younghusband scored for the Philippines, stretched the lead to 2. Cameras captured actress Angel Locsin jumping for joy. Azkals on aggregate was 3-1. Down by two, the game commentators said the away team needed more effort to salvage the game.

Gerardo Valmayor scored off a pass from James Younghusband. Azkals led by 3; aggregate 4-1 in favor of the Azkals. Phil Younghusband scored off a penalty kick, Azkals led 4-0; aggregate 5-1 with sixty two minutes gone.

Ali Borromeo picked up a yellow card. He is going to miss the match vs Kuwait. Huge development for the Philippines there. Then Caligdong was feared to be injured, but the referees didn't give the penalty. He went out of the game temporarily at 73 minutes gone. Caligdong checked back in after a while, although he got substituted again 2 minutes after.

James Younghusband and Ian Araneta had several tries each but didn't make them. Eighty six minutes gone. Sri Lankan player got his 2nd yellow card, been given the red. Sri Lanka down to 10 men on the field.

Azkals vs Sri Lanka game result - final score at fulltime: 4-0; aggregate 5-1. The Philippine Azkals will play against Kuwait in the next round.

Robots that should have been part of 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon'

The Transformers universe started when Hasbro released the “Transformers Generation One” animated series in 1984.
Up until 2007, the Transformers series has gone through various changes, both in terms of plot and character development.

But the basic characters remained like Optimus Prime and Megatron. Bumblebee, Ironhide, Starscream, and Soundwave were among the mainstays though later variants of the Transformers series, particularly Transformers “Unicron Trilogy”, had differently named characters that were based from the originals.
In the latest Transformers movie by Michael Bay, there were numerous comments regarding the robots that were present. While most of them were familiar to fans of the series, there were hopes that certain characters would be present.

Here are a few Transformers characters that were hoped to be part of the latest film:
Grimlock – The only other Autobot that could go head-to-head with Optimus Prime in any media (including the comic books). The leader of the Dinobots was popular for his often brutish yet gentle attitude. He is also popular as a robot that transforms into a Tyrannosaurus Rex, which in itself is an iconic creature on its own.
Wheeljack – In TF3 (Transformers 3), an Autobot named Que served as a stand-in for Wheeljack, who was the inventor in the original series. But Wheeljack, who transforms into a Lancia Stratos Turbo, was just as capable a fighter as everyone else in the original series. Que in TF3 never fought back and was killed off.

Omega Supreme – The inclusion of that unidentified worm-like drill bot of the Decepticons should have been matched by the presence of another big robot on the side of the Autobots – Omega Supreme. There were comments in some online TF forums who wished that the rocket the Autobots used in TF3 would transform into Omega Supreme, who is originally a rocket base for the Autobots.
Rumble – This human sized Decepticon was among the most talkative of Soundwave’s “tape” warriors and is the most commonly used robot to literally shake off the Autobots during battle. If Rumble was present in the movie, there wouldn’t be a need for that worm-like drilling robot that Shockwave was using as a weapon and as transport.

Combaticons – While the “combiner” robots that formed Devastator in TF2 were all but destroyed, the Combaticons would have made the invasion of earth in TF3 more believable. The Combaticons are a group of five Decepticons who transformed individually into war machines, such as a tank, anti-aircraft truck, a Black Hawk chopper, a Space Shuttle, and a jeep. They were actually more tactically better than Devastator.
Blitzwing – Of the three Decepticon “triple changer” Blitzwing was the most popular. Blitzwing transforms into a tank and then into a jet fighter, which would be most effective during battles.

Unicron – For the sake of scale, the planet-sized Unicron would have been the most massive enemy in the movie. In fact, the plot in the film could have included him as the master manipulator (and not Megatron) who forces Sentinel Prime to use the Pillars to transport him near earth (take note that Prime stressed Cybertron was already destroyed). If he became part of the movie, Unicron would probably be the biggest battle in the silver screen.

PHL Azkals vs. Sri Lanka ends in a draw, 1-1 (1st Leg Results)

Sri Lanka holds Philippine Azkals to 1-1 draw

The Sri Lankan Brave Reds held the Philippine Azkals to a 1-1 draw as they frustrated the Nationals’ attempt to score a historic first win in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Nationals had difficulties controlling the tempo in the first half against the Sri Lankans' tough defense.

The Sri Lankans scored the first goal of the game when Chathura Gunaratne’s free kick went through in the 40th minute.

Fortunately, Filipino-American Nate Burkey scored a header off a Chieffy Caligdong free kick on the 49th minute to equalize for the Azkals.

It was a highly physical game that was marred by diving on the part of the Sri Lankans.

The uneven grass of the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo also affected the Azkals' ball handling.

Several Azkals, including James Younghusband, Angel Guirado and Stephan Schrock, were given yellow cards for fouling their opponents.

The Azkals also had several scoring attempts through Phil Younghusband, Aly Borromeo and Chieffy Caligdong, and Ian Araneta.

The match was the first leg of a 2-leg home-and-away tie.

The next leg will take place at the historic Rizal Memorial Stadium in Manila on July 3.

The Philippines needs to either win or hold Sri Lanka to a goalless draw in the second leg to advance to the next round.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon 2011 | Top Box Office Movie Trailer

Somebody please institutionalize Michael Bay. The first Transformers was a weak action film with some redeeming qualities. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was a ridiculous and over the top mess and now we've arrived at Transformers: Dark of the Moon which at this point is just sad. This is a pathetic excuse for an action blockbuster that makes a mockery of everything action films stand for. In the latest bulbous growth to the series follows the Autobots when they find a Cybertronian spacecraft on the moon. The Autobots must save the world again as they keep the Decepticons from utilizing the spacecraft for a worldwide takeover.

There isn't really much more to say about the plot because it might as well be nonexistent. In its place we find the most convoluted action scenes full of a painful and redundant amount of explosions and robots throwing crap at each other. There is a scene here and there that I might be able to stomach calling a little cool or kinda neat, but this film mainly succeeds in convincing me that giant fighting robots can actually be really boring. I never thought I could muster up so much hate for so much action. But there is a certain point when all cinematic skill and finesse goes out the window and it is nothing more than an attempt to see how many explosions can be allowed in one two and a half hour film. There is no aesthetic quality to the action. It is as far from stylish or sophisticated as it can possibly be and is nothing more than an idiotic mess. I don't remember the last time I wanted a film to end as badly as I did during the last 45 minutes of endless stupidity that was the final battle of Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

This film basically breaks down as follows. 60 percent action. 30 percent stupid jokes that do so incredibly little for the plot and aren't all that funny. 5 percent childish romance between the two obnoxious leads. And finally, 5 percent story. After Michael Bay snorts twelve lines of coke and crams his idiotic mess of a film full of as many explosions possible he says to himself, "Oh right! I have to put a story in here somewhere! Well I can't have it take up too much time so I'll have to just have the characters explain things as blatantly and flatly as possible so that I have more time to thrown in explosions and stupid jokes that don't really belong here, but who cares! I'm Michael Bay I can do whatever the hell I want! And that includes making my movie two and a half hours long!" And what a painful two and a half hours it was. If only Bay's heart had stopped after that whole spiel and I would be in a better place right now.

This film reminds me why the art of filmmaking is so under-appreciated. It is because some "filmmakers" manage to produce steaming piles of crap like this movie. Every moment of this film is a mess. I chuckled maybe once and never did I feel I was witnessing something intense, awesome, or even fun. I wanted this movie to end and when the credits finally began to role a huge wave of relief came over me. This film is exactly how not to make a film. It is boring, stupid, paced horribly, and just put together so horribly and so crudely. In all its glamour and grandiose special effects you would think the film would be more polished than this turd is, but it is just such a piece of garbage that feels like it was thrown together by someone who has never made a film in their life. It is dreadful on a whole new level. However, there is one thing going for this film. I'm going to go see a lot more films this year as we're only half way through. A lot of them will surely be crap but now, when I see a bad film I can at least find some optimism by telling myself, "At least it wasn't as bad as Transformers: Dark of the Moon."

A Fight for Poverty: Manny Pacquiao’s yellow gloves

On Saturday, May 7th, Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao will wear yellow gloves when he fights 39-year old “Sugar” Shane Mosley. The Pacquiao vs Mosley fight will be at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Manny Pacquiao will defend his WBO Welterweight Belt versus former three-division world champion Shane Mosley in-front of the 16,800 sell-out crowd.

Pacman, a congressman in the Philippines, wants to fight Mosley with yellow gloves – not to deceive him of its bright and shady color – but to symbolize his fight against poverty and the unity of the Filipino people across the globe.

Manny Pacquiao came from a very poor family and there were times he’s never eaten in a day. He sells various kinds of stuffs in the streets just to help his mother financially. He went to Manila and Cebu to find work and train in boxing – and everything became a Cinderella story. Now, he is hailed as one of the highest paid athletes in the world and he is “officially” the richest congressman in the Philippines. Note the word “officially” because there might be other congressmen out there who earns illegally – sad but true.

Manny Pacquiao's speech during Final Press Conference

“All my life I’ve had to fight. As a child, I had to fight just to eat,” Pacquiao said. “The biggest fight in my life is not in boxing. The biggest fight in my life is how to end poverty in my country.”

Manny, who wants to make trends and make distinctions, will be the first boxer to wear yellow gloves. No one has ever worn a yellow glove in any boxing match – only red, blue, or burgundy are the traditional colors used by boxers.

Pacman is encouraging his fans to wear yellow shirts as a sign of unity – not only to Filipinos but to all the people in the world when he fights American Shane Mosley this Saturday.

Pacquiao did not finish his high-school education because of extreme poverty. Many laughed at him because of his grammar and diction – and probably even you, also laughed at him. Manny said in his speech in the Mosley vs Pacquiao final press conference that he will never stop his fight against poverty. He was born in Kibawe, Bukidnon and moved to General Santos City when he was at the age of reason. He was raised alone by his mother because his parents divorced when he was still a sixth grader.

Now, Manny has a lot of distinctions to add to his name. He is not only the first active boxer to become congressman but he is also the first boxer to win eight different world titles in eight different weight classes. He is the highest paid athlete in 2010 earning a total of $32 million for his two fights, against Joshua Clottey in March and Antonio Margarito in November. His endorsements, businesses, etc were not included in the figure.

Pacquiao is literally the jack-of-all-trades. He is an actor, comedian, singer/songwriter, basketball player and a lot more. This time he will add a new hat to his collection – the “poverty fighter” hat.

Pacman has formally partnered with the Gawad Kalinga (GK) Foundation, a non-government organization, in building houses for the poor. He wants to help needy families in the Philippines by providing them a place to live in. He doesn’t want to see families live in the slums and die of poverty.

By wearing yellow gloves in the Pacquiao-Mosley fight, with the support of the boxing fans that wear yellow shirts, the “fight for poverty” will bring much attention not only to the boxing community but to the whole world. Poverty is one of Philippines’ worst problems, with Pacquiao’s leadership this problem will surely end.

If you think it’s a worthwhile article, kindly share it to your friends in Facebook and Twitter. God bless!

127 Hours

REVIEWED BY: Josh Tyler
There’s only so much you can do with a movie like 127 Hours. Director Danny Boyle does all of it, but in the end his film still hinges almost entirely on the performance of James Franco. Franco is an actor who, till now, always tried hard but never really achieved anything beyond mediocre results. An enthusiasm for acting, a willingness to take on challenging projects, and movie star good looks were always there, but talent? Until now I’d never really been sure. But in taking on the true life story of trapped climber Aron Ralston, Franco finds himself in the perfect place at the perfect time. It’s a role which. if played by someone else, might have just been the story of some guy trapped in a hole. Franco finds something more.

James Franco plays Ralston as a geek, and like all geeks he has an obsession. His obsession isn’t collecting Star Wars figurines or vintage comic books, his obsession is the outdoors. An engineer by profession Aron dreams of making his living as guide and when we meet him, he’s home from work and packing up for a weekend to be spent under the stars and sun, wandering endless, remote canyons all alone. He’s confident in his abilities, perhaps with good reason, and so he doesn’t bother to tell anyone where he’s going. Yet even an experienced hiker, his head packed full of survival knowledge, can’t prepare for everything.

The real life Aron Ralston’s story is well publicized, and by now it’s not a spoiler to tell you that before long he’ll end up trapped at the bottom of a canyon, pinned beneath a rock he can not move. Stuck there all alone for nearly a week, Aron will have plenty of time to think of everything he did wrong. The Swiss Army knife he failed to pack, the Gatorade bottle he left in his truck, the phone call from his mom he didn’t answer as he threw everything in his bag and hit the open road. Eventually he’ll have a choice to make. By the time he makes it, it’s almost not a choice, just a final desperate act to survive at any cost.

We spend a few brief moments with Aron, before he’s trapped, as he races across the wilderness on his bike. On his way out towards solitude he’ll encounter two pretty hikers. They’ll invite him to a Scooby Doo theme party, and fantasizing about what it might have been like if he’d shown up is one of the many things that’ll keep him going during his long imprisonment. Most of the movie is spent there with him, trapped beneath a rock, for 127 hours of solitude. The only thing on screen is Franco’s Ralston, with no one to talk to, nothing to do but sit and struggle and despair. Somehow, Ralston never gives in to panic; he’s too capable, too smart, too savvy for that. That doesn’t mean, however, he has a way out.

A lesser filmmaker would have blanched at the prospect of spending an entire movie in one place, with one character, and nothing to do but stare. At least in Cast Away Tom Hanks had an island to wander around and a beach ball to talk to. A lesser filmmaker would have panicked and cut away, perhaps to show us a rescue effort underway, or to fetishize his grieving family. Danny Boyle never does. He doesn’t need to, James Franco’s performance, sitting in that one spot, is that good.

Instead Boyle tries to find meaning in Ralston’s predicament. Aron sits and fantasizes about the choices he’s made and the people he loves. In more than one, feverish fantasy Ralston envisions himself freed and moving on. Some of these fantasy sequences are more successful than others. None of them are as good as the moments in which we simply sit with Franco, underneath that rock, and stare into the heavens looking for hope. None of those moments are as thrilling as his tiny triumphs of improvisation, his steely-eyed determination to find a way out, the minutiae of minute by minute life turned into grim life and death decisions. Much as he tries I’m not sure Boyle ever really finds that broader meaning he’s looking for. There’s some attempt to make a point about the way we’re all connected and how much we need each other, or to make a statement about the power of the human spirit. Some of that feels forced. It’s one man, in a hole, he does what must be done in order to survive, and that’s enough.

Franco’s best moments are almost entirely silent. The one that’ll stick with me, perhaps forever, comes after he’s finished the grisly, horrifying work of freeing himself. Aron stumbles back to survey what he’s done and for a moment, just a moment, there’s a smile. Standing there bleeding and dying, he steps back and grins, it’s the grin of someone who never thought he’d leave one spot and, no matter what happens from there on out knows he’s already won. His dirty, bloody, crooked smile in the face of unexpected freedom says everything there is to know about what’s happened and what matters most to Aron in those terrible moments. It’s a masterful performance by Franco, sharply directed with all the visual flair he can bring to bear on a single location by an unflinching Danny Boyle. 127 Hours is the kind of movie you absolutely must see once and then, battered and broken by enduring Ralston’s gruesome predicament with him, you’ll never want to see again.
